Dear Parents/ Guardians,
Though a School can do a lot for a child, it cannot do everything. The home is the place where s/he gets his/her first education and training in responsible citizenship. It is the chief place where his/her character is formed and developed. School education indeed promotes growth of personality and helps to discover and develop the qualities that are in children. In order to secure all that is best in education of your child, maximum co-operation between the parents and school authorities is necessary. This talk of helping your children to become good citizens is done better through a kind of partnership between the School and the parents/guardians.
Immaculate Conception Convent Hr. Sec. School desires to have your co-operation in order to develop an atmosphere conducive to education for the best result and the progress of the child. It is essential that all five elements: pupils/parents/guardians, teachers and management work together.
Ensure your children to bring the diary daily to the school. They should take care to keep it neat and clean. Why? Because, this diary is meant to be used by the students to record their school activities and home work; therefore, students should make proper use of it. Besides this, it serves as an effective link between you, the teachers and the management. Hence, you are requested to go through the diary from time to time, so as to keep yourselves informed about the quality of work attempted by your children.
Notes between you and the teachers about the student’s progress can conveniently be exchanged through the pages provided for in the diary. Remember the diary is not for abusive and improper communication. All entries made by you, parents, in the diary must pertain only to the student’s conducts and work. No criticism of the teaching methods or the conditions at home should be entered into the pages of this diary. Such criticism, if any, may be conveyed in a separate letter addressed to the Principal.
Parents, you are requested to read all information given in this diary and put your signatures at the space provided; to fill up all particular correctly in the “Statement by Parent/Guardian” and to record their specimen signatures in the space provided.
You are requested to pay special attention to the personal cleanliness of your child. Kindly see that the child attends the school in proper uniform. Absence of your child from class for attending social function, outings, pilgrimages, marriages, parties etc., is discouraged because it retards the child’s progress and minimizes his/her respect for regular hard work. As far as possible, fix these events during holidays.
It is essential that the school be informed when the child is detained at home. Children who are ill should not be sent to attend class or take tests, as the chances are that they will spoil both health and studies. In case of illness application for leave must reach the school without delay.
Children should do their homework by themselves. They should not be helped by you or tutors unless they really need it. It is advisable not have easy recourse to tuitions unless of course the child is very weak and lacks the basic knowledge of important subjects. It is important that children develop a habit of studying and working on their own.
Criticism of teacher/s should be avoided in the presence of the child because it undermines his/her respect for the teacher and the School; should you have complaint, meet the principal.
As your child advances in age, guide him/her to become resourceful member of home and the Country. Encourage self-help for work and study. S/He should be taught to keep his/her own bed, polish his/her own shoes, carry his/her own bag etc. the formation of such habits in life inculcates in him/her the ideas of work and fundamental personal virtue necessary for a successful career in life.
Students studying in English medium should be helped to follow their classes easily and intelligently by a certain amount of regular English conversation at home.
All school certificates are true copies of the school records of a student’s conduct in and out of class, his/her application and progress in studies, in games etc. Do not approach the school authorities to issue a certificate different from what is vouched for in the school
records.
You or any other person authorized by you, will not be allowed to see the student or meet his/her teacher during school hours without the sanction of the Principal. You can, however, meet the teachers on all working Saturdays of the year (except examination days) between 08.30 a.m and 10.30 a.m (in summer), between 09.30 a.m and 11.30 a.m (in winter) and on PTM days.
Please note that your child will not be allowed to leave the school for whatever reason once she/he is marked ‘Present’. Therefore, do not approach the school authorities with a request for permission to leave.
The school handbook cum diary is published under the authority of the School Management each year. If there are changes in the school rules are notified in the diary.
